Vinyl Deck
Vinyl decking and railing is composed of cellular polyvinyl chloride PVC. Vinyl has high strength properties, doesn't contain wood or cellular fibers, and won't scratch and stain as easily as composite material. Vinyl decking is considered low maintenance because it doesn't require staining like wood but still requires regular cleaning and washing. These materials are sold in a variety of colors, textures, and profiles. Many vinyl railing systems are white. The price point is typically a little higher than composite decking. Most vinyl decking and railing materials are covered under a limited warranty.

Virgin vinyl decking will expand and contract a lot and this needs to be accommodated by using different methods for fastening and spacing to allow expansion based on temperature. Extreme temperatures can result in up to 2 or 3“ of expansion with some products.
